The Warriors recently finished their 2011-2012 season with a 20-5 record. We ended up being the State AA Tournament Runner-up, the Greater Dakota Conference Champions, and the District 2AA Champions. Our overall record as a program this year was 58-16 (Varsity, JV, Sophomores, Freshman). We are proud of our kids and their accomplishments.

Some awards/honors earned by our kids this year include the following:

All-State = ???

Sioux Falls All-City = Sarah Zirpel, Ellie Benson

GDC All-Conference = Sarah Zirpel (1st Team), Ellie Benson (2nd Team), Hannah Weber and Emma Hanson (Honorable Mention)

Academic All-GDC = Hannah Weber, Kaylynn Ragsdale, Emily Morris

Academic All-State = Hannah Weber, Kaylynn Ragsdale

State AA All-Tournament = Sarah Zirpel, Ellie Benson

Senior Award/Team Captains = Jessica Carson, Taylor Gackle, Hannah Weber, Sarah Zirpel, Kaylynn Ragsdale (Mgr.), Emily Morris (Mgr.)

Team Varsity Awards (Voted on by varsity teammates)

1. MVP—Sarah Zirpel
2. Most Improved—Michaela Mayer
3. Spirit of the Warrior—Ellie Benson

We are especially proud of our seniors. They ended their careers with the following honors: 82-16 overall record, 2010 State Champions, 2012 State Runner-up, 4 Consecutive years in the State Tourney, 3 Greater Dakota Conference Championships, 4 District 2AA Championships, and an even more impressive overall record of 22-3 in postseason play (District and State Tournaments)--their only 3 losses came by a total of 4 points. We are thankful to our seniors and their families for their contributions to our program.

Thank you to all of the Warrior parents and fans for the support you give our program throughout the year. We are proud to be Washington Warriors, and to be a part of the storied athletic tradition here at Washington High School. We embrace the high expectations of being a "Warrior"--getting things done in a positive way on the court, in the classroom, and being good citizens.

A special thanks to my assistant coaches for all of the work they put in during the year to get our kids better. We are looking forward to the off-season and the future is bright for the Warriors!!
